the Deputy for Port and Economic Affairs, along with the general directors of the deputy's departments and the PMO's ICT director general, attended a meeting with managers of the Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Administration to review the latest status of the IPAS implementation at Imam Khomeini Port.
A Unified Gateway for Port Operations
Expressing appreciation for the cooperation of project consultants and the technical teams involved in the system's design and implementation, Adel Deris stated that the IPAS implementation is the result of joint collaboration among various sectors of the organization, supporting companies, and port operations managers. Its ultimate goal is to establish a single, reliable, and integrated gateway for managing port processes and reducing the fragmentation of existing systems.
He identified increased productivity through software transformation as one of the system's most significant achievements, adding that productivity gains are not necessarily achieved through physical investment. In many cases, system improvements, process re-engineering, and the deployment of software infrastructure can bring about a serious transformation in port performance.
Moving Beyond the Pilot Phase
Emphasizing the transition from the trial stage, the PMO deputy stressed that the system must be activated operationally, in parallel with existing systems, so that after resolving exceptions and completing processes, it can serve as the primary reference for port operations.
According to the PMO board member, Imam Khomeini Port should become a successful model for the full utilization of this system within a short period, with its experience then extended to other ports across the country.
A Foundation for Smart Ports
Khorsandi noted that the system provides a platform for port digitalization, stating that the electronification of processes is a prerequisite for moving toward smart ports, and IPAS, along this path, provides the necessary infrastructure for Smart Port development.
He stated that the system is ready for operation in various sectors and has passed the required tests, adding: "We have now entered the operational phase, and until the end of the transition period, data will be recorded in parallel in both the old and new systems. However, the plan is to phase out the old systems within the next two months and make IPAS the primary reference for operations."
24/7 Support and Data Migration
Emphasizing the system's round-the-clock support, Khorsandi said the support team will remain continuously alongside users to resolve issues and ensure the system is fully implemented across all areas, particularly in support lands.
He also announced the organization's plan for data transfer and migration, adding that information recorded in IPAS must serve not only operational purposes but also as an accurate basis for statistics and senior management decision-making. In the financial domain, efforts have been made to fully integrate the system so that invoicing is issued through this platform.
